| | Silas A Crow was born in 1813 in South Carolina, USA. He died on Feb 18, 1885 in Euharlee, Bartow, Georgia, USA (Age: 75). He married Sarah Jane White, daughter of White and <No name> on May 15, 1856 in Habersham, Georgia, USA. | | | | |
| | Sarah Jane White, daughter of White and <No name> was born on Jun 08, 1835 in South Carolina, USA. She died on May 18, 1910 in Cimarron, Colfax, New Mexico, USA (Age: 74).
Notes for Silas A Crow:
A 1840 Census record in Habersham county, Georgia has not been found as of yet containing Silas Crow. I suspect that Silas is listed in the 1820 and 1830 Habersham Census and in the 1810 Spartanburg, SC census with James Crow (b. 1790 - 1794).
It is clear by census study that Silas "A" Crow is not Silas "M" Crow found in Habersham during the same time.
Silas and Ruth are married in 1834. If they are living with another family in 1840, there will be an extra male and female between 20 and 30 years old on the census.
Silas looses his land in a lawsuit in 1845 & 1846. Have not been able to locate a land document for ownership or transfer. Land was sold to compensate a William J Rusk who was a medical doctor in Habersham at the time. Suspect that Silas owed him money for medical services in which he could not afford to pay.
In 1860, Silas is married to his second wife Sarah Jane White. They are living in Atlanta, Georgia (Ward 5), where he is working as a laborer. They appear to have a border living with them named Orina Hambree. They don't own any real estate.
I can find no proof that William Crow is the father of Silas or that he even has siblings. There is not enough evidence to link these two individuals as of yet.
DNA test show there is an exact genetic match between Silas A Crow (b 1813), John T. Crow (b 1817), James Crow ( b. unknown), and Anderson A. Castelman( b. unknown). These DNA matches could be between 1 and 3 generations apart). One unique about the DNA match is that they are unique to the Crow family from Habersham, GA.
After the death of Ruth, children are found living with older siblings and relatives in and around Habersham county.
father's name could have been James and his grandfathers name Isaac
Notes for Sarah Jane White:
'B7 The 1910 US Federal Census states that Sarah was the mother of 8 children, 5 of which are still living in 1910.
'B7 The 1880 US Fed Census shows Sarah's birthplace to be Georgia and her Mother's birthplace to be Georgia. Farther's birthplace is blank.

Notes for Seaborn Gideon Barnes Jones:
Seaborn Gideon Barnes Jones was six feet two inches tall and his wife was four feet 10 inches.
Seaborn was a land speculator and general merchandise storeowner in Pike County, Georgia. But when land prices in Georgia skyrocketed to $4.00 an acre, Seaborn knew it was time to move his large family further West. So the Jones clan sold-out "lock, stock, and barrel" and headed for northeast Alabama.
Seaborn and Mary moved to Alabama in 1899 with their entire family including the married children. Family lore says the family money was devided between the men and women and most of the men traveled by covered wagon to Dekalb County, Alabama. The women and rest of the men boarded a train in Pike County Georgia, traveled through Atlanta to Chattanooga, Tennessee and then back to Collinsville, Alabama where they were met by the men. After farming for about a year in the Kilpatrick area of Dekalb County, they moved to Jackson County where they settled in the Macadonia area.
This move is covered in the book titled "The Heritage of Jackson County, Alabama." (page 213; bottom lower left, Joseph Willian Jones and Lula Lee Adams)
After finally arriving and settling down in Jackson County, Alabama, Seaborn continued to do what had worked for him in Georgia. He soon owned several large tracts of land on both sides of the Tennessee River. A cousin of mine lives on 160 acres that was once owned by Seaborn and was passed on to his son Alonzo. It's located near the tiny town of Nat, on Cumberland Mountain. I'm told Uncle Alonzo was a wonderful singer. When I was a kid, I visited his house that was an oddity since the kitchen had a hard-packed dirt floor.

| | Malinda Elizabeth "Bettie" Noles, daughter of Benjamin J Noles and Martha E Payne was born on Dec 25, 1854 in Lincoln, Tennessee, USA. She died in Apr 1913 in Alabama City, Etowah, Alabama, USA.
Notes for Newton Philander "Bud Eslick" Eslick:
Notes from research done by Mr. Charles W. Canady:
Mr. Eslick was called "Bud" as can be seen inscribed on this tombstone. From 1871 to 1888, Bud and his wife Malinda had eight girls. They lived in a small remote rural community called Hurdlow. The community got its name from a Miss. Hurdlow who was the school teacher where the Eslick girls attended school. In 1896 Mr. Eslick moved the family to Rome, Georgia where the entire family worked in the Lindale cotton mill. Some of the girls even worked as child labor. A family story states that Mrs. Eslick had three sets of twin boys that died at or shortly after childbirth and afterward she had eight girls. It was also said Mr. Eslick had lapses of memory and in 1899 he got on the railroad track to walk back home to Hurdlow, Tennessee and was stuck and killed by a train. The railroad offered Mrs. Eslick $25,000, but her brother in law persuaded her to take them to court and she lost and got nothing. After the death of Mr. Eslick, Mrs. Eslick opened a boarding house in Lindale, Georgia which she operated while the girls worked in the cotton mill. Both Mr. and Mrs. Eslick are buried in Hurdlow, Tennessee in a small cemetery on a hill near the Christian church they had attended. Another family story states the picture of Mr. Eslick was taken after his death. Supposedly he was dressed for burial, his eyes opened, and he was propped against a wall for the picture. Another family story states Mr. Eslick was an orphan. It was common in those days for families to find work in cotton mills and they would move to the towns that mills were hiring. As time passed the girls married with most of them staying in Georgia. Mollie "Mary" Belle, the second oldest, met and married Charles Augustus Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell had left home to find work and met her while he was working at Lindale mills and living at the Eslick boarding house.
